Apple can’t stop shipping. In the last few weeks alone: new Mac minis, new Mac Studios, the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, the iPhone Duo, Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, AirPods 5 — plus Siri AI that finally works. And apparently October has more coming. What is actually happening in Cupertino right now?

Plus: Google is putting a wall around Android. Every developer now has to register with Google to ship an app to a “certified” phone. The same Google that just lost an antitrust case for monopolizing Android.

Then: Reddit is killing old.reddit and pulling RSS support. The stated reason is AI scrapers. The real reason is probably money — and another step toward a walled-garden internet.

And the Hang Jury: OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google DeepMind just announced they’re working together on AI safety. Three direct competitors. One pact. Progress — or cover?

⚖️ Hang Jury: Three Rivals, One Safety Pact — Progress or Cover?

OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google DeepMind just announced they’re working together on AI safety. Yes. Those OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google DeepMind. The three labs spending the most money to beat each other are now spending time to protect you from each other.

On one hand, the technology has gotten dangerous enough that unilateral action isn’t safe. If only one lab pauses, the others race past. Real cooperation might be the only way to set a baseline that matters.

On the other hand — cooperation between the top three is also a moat. Every safety framework they agree on is a framework the smaller players have to adopt. xAI, Mistral, and DeepSeek get to watch the incumbents define what “safe AI” means — and then comply.

So here’s the Hang Jury question: when the three biggest players in the most expensive race in tech suddenly agree on safety — is that the most responsible move the AI industry has made, or the most cynical one?
